Bio-data of Anima Desai

Anima Desai founded Scholars Academy Preschool and Elementary School in 1983. She started her second school in 1991. She is currently the Principal of Scholars Academy Schools. She has created a unique, well-balanced and highly academic curriculum Program for her school. Scholars Academy students have received several Poetry and other national awards.


She received Congressional Order of merit in 2007 and was selected California Business Woman of the year 2006 and she has served as an Honorary Chairman of the Business Advisory Council in Washington.

She has been on the Advisory Committee for City of San Jose’s minority council selection criteria. She has volunteered for several community services.

Besides being the Chief Executive of Indian-American Women Empowered, she is also the Vice President of Federation of Indo-American. She has been the Founding member and the Past President of Indian Business and Professional Women. She has been on the Board of Directors of Aasra- an outreach for South Asian Women who are victims of domestic abuse. She was the founding member of Alumini – an organization for students from missionary schools. She has been on the Board of Directors for several other organizations, and has been on the panel of judges for different art and science competitions in elementary schools. She has also been on the board for organizing several beauty contests and shows. She is also the Founder and President of Paigam- a group for the south Asian Youth and their families promoting pride in cultural heritage. She continues to be part of outreach and education programs in India.
